First win for GB U23s over United Nations

Great Britain got their offence going right from the start, scoring on an early power play to take a 1-0 lead. Moments later, Sebastian Mohr made it 2-0 on his backhand, and it appeared the rout was on. But the United Nations team fought back and twice closed the gap to within a goal, and went to their locker room at the end of the first period trailing only 3-2. The score remained that way until the last five minutes of the second period, when the British team suddenly broke out with three goals in under two minutes to make it 6-2. In the third period, which was frequently interrupted by penalties, GB added four more goals to make the final score 10-2.

Coaches´ Quotes

Luke Browne (GBR): "From the very first moment the game started, it was excellent. I think everything we’ve been learning and growing as a team throughout the week, we showed exactly that in this match. We were very dangerous in front of the goal, and we’re really proud of the boys."

Mark Guergis (UNA): "We started well and stuck to our game plan, but then we got penalized a few times, and that’s when it slipped away from us."
