Canada tops USA 6-0, advances to U23 final

The Americans had a better start to the game, but were unable to capitalize on their chances. But when the momentum shifted, the Canadians put on a clinic in efficiency. Carter Longland opened the scoring midway through the first period, Wylie Birkett followed suit less than two minutes later, and the score was 2-0 after the first period. The Canadians, and especially Cole Dupperreault, continued in a similar vein in the second period. The tournament's top scorer put on a one-man show and scored three more goals, giving his team a comfortable 5-0 lead. With the outcome no longer in doubt, the third period was rather uneventful. With the 6-0 win, Canada advances to the U23 final, where they'll meet the host Czechs again. The USA, meanwhile, will play for bronze against Slovakia.
