USA advances to U16 semifinals with win over Czech White

The Americans started the game with a lot of energy, opened the scoring early and, with their active play, forced the Czech team into several mistakes, which the they punished uncompromisingly. The Czechs' ball possession was limited to their power plays, from which they were unable to convert. Connor Lammi scored the first and last goals for the Americans, while Jakub Peřina scored the Czechs' only goal, which came late in the third period with their goalie out for a sixth attacker. However, the Czech team in white jerseys did not manage to do more and came away from the game empty-handed, meaning they will play for fifth place at best. The Americans, on the other hand, will advance to the semifinals.

Coaches´ Quotes

Martin Hlavsa (CZW): "We let the first period slip away. The Americans came at us with high intensity and were all over the floor. We lost the game due to our own mistakes. It was tough for us. We played two games in two days, and we couldn't keep up with the Americans. However, the end of the game went well for us, especially the power plays."

Willie Rennebeck (USA): "The boys delivered a flawless performance today and we are very proud of them. The game was mainly defensive. Our approach is based on helping each other and playing as one team, and that’s exactly what we did."
