Goal fest for Slovakia in 17-0 win over GB

The ČPP Arena's smaller rink came alive just three minutes into the game when forward Matyas Svrček scored from the slot. Soon after, goaltender Lewis Curry was beaten again. Within six minutes, he had conceded four more goals and, before the end of the first period, Slovakia was up 7-0. At that point, GB made a goaltending change, sending Ben Law into the crease. The Slovak juniors came out strong in the second period, scoring twice within nine seconds, followed shortly by strikes from Patrik Šiška and hat-trick scorer Matyas Svrček, all within 27 seconds. The British managed to briefly halt Slovakia’s dominance, and the period ended with Slovakia leading 11–0. In the third period, however, Slovakia took full control again and kept scoring. The final score stopped at a crushing 17–0.

Coaches´ Quotes

Juraj Alföldy (SVK): "We took this game very seriously. We were very serious about it. In the second period we slacked off a bit, but that's normal in games like this. There are some cuts, but we hope it's nothing serious and everything will be fine by tomorrow."

Ellis Martin (GBR): "It has been a massive experience so far. The boys work really hard, they are doing excellent things in the games. It is hard to prepare mentally when you are playing against the best teams in the world. We are not a big ball hockey nation, a lot of these guys are ice hockey players. But we fight and we do our best in the games. I am really proud of them all."
