Junior Ball Hockey World Championship Unveils Full Schedule
Key dates reveal when Czech teams play and when the top matches take place
The U23 category will play in a round-robin format. The group will consist of the host Czech Republic, Slovakia, the USA, Canada, United Nations, and Great Britain. The U16 category will be divided into two groups, each including a Czech team (White and Red). Group one features: Czech Republic White, Slovakia, USA, and Great Britain. Group two will include Czech Republic Red, Switzerland, Canada, and Hungary. Additionally, Czech U16 girls will face Slovakia, and Czech U14 boys will also play against Slovakia.
The tournament kicks off on Wednesday, June 25
The opening game of the championship will take place in the morning in the U23 category – Canada vs. United Nations. The U23 category continues with Great Britain vs. Slovakia. After noon, the U16 category begins, starting with Czech Republic White vs. Great Britain. Simultaneously on rink 2, Hungary will take on Switzerland (U16). Later in the afternoon, we’ll see Czech Republic Red face off against Canada, and USA take on Slovakia (both U16). In the evening, two U23 games will wrap up the day – USA vs. Czech Republic (main arena) and Slovakia vs. United Nations (rink 2).
Thursday kicks off with Czech Republic U23 vs. Great Britain
The Czech U23 squad’s performance will be followed by Czech Red U16 vs. Switzerland. After lunch, Canada will play Slovakia (U23), and Great Britain will meet the USA (U16). Before 4 PM, the Britain-USA matchup will repeat in the U23 category, again on rink 2. At the same time, the Slovakia vs. Czech Republic White (U16) will take place in the main arena. The day will conclude with two 6:00 PM games: United Nations vs. Czech Republic (U23) and Hungary vs. Canada (U16).
On Friday the 27th, U16 girls will join the action
At 9:00 AM, U23 action resumes with Slovakia vs. USA and Canada vs. Great Britain. Meanwhile, Czech Republic White (U16) will face USA, and the Czech and Slovak U16 girls’ teams will also compete. Next up will be Czech Red vs. Hungary (U16) and Slovakia vs. Great Britain (U16). In the afternoon, United Nations will clash with USA (U23) and a U16 girls’ rematch between Czech Republic and Slovakia follows. The evening will feature a highly anticipated match between Czech Republic U23 and Canada, while Canada U16 will face Switzerland.
Saturday will feature the first knockout rounds in the U16 category
This day also marks the debut of the U14 boys. The morning begins with Great Britain vs. United Nations (U23) followed by the North American derby: USA vs. Canada (U23). The U23 round-robin phase will conclude with another fierce rivalry: Czech Republic vs. Slovakia. Throughout the day, we’ll see both A and B semifinals in the U16 category, as well as two matches between Czech and Slovak U14 teams.
Sunday is the medal day
At 9:00 AM, the U16 bronze medal game will begin. At 11:45 AM, the U23 bronze medal match will follow. Placement games for 5th and 7th places will then take place. The first final will be played at 2:30 PM, where the U16 gold medals will be decided. The most prestigious prize of the tournament – the U23 gold medal – will be awarded after the 5:30 PM final.
